This is a live recording featuring the brilliant Israeli jazz pianist Shai Maestro—an artist who, while perhaps not yet widely known in Japan, is truly exceptional. The performance showcases a unique quartet configuration: in addition to Shai on piano, the group includes a second keyboardist, the young Tel Aviv-born musician Gadi Lehavi. Shai Maestro himself was discovered by bassist Avishai Cohen, who in turn gained significant experience working with artists like Chick Corea—a testament to the way the jazz tradition is passed from one generation to the next. The recording is taken directly from the soundboard and boasts excellent audio quality. I hope this release serves as an invitation for you to discover the music of Shai Maestro and explore the vibrant world of Israeli jazz.
