Let’s touch upon each of the performances.
The sound quality for this final Osaka show is excellent—a welcome treat. The band delivers a solid performance as always, but perhaps because it was the last show and they had a day off the following day, there is a different kind of intensity in the air. Only a dedicated follower would likely pick up on this nuance—such as in the feedback Ritchie produces during the intro to "All Night Long" (Disc 1, Track 8). "Child In Time" (Disc 1, Track 9) is also an extended version. The intro to "Power" (Disc 2, Track 1) really teases the listener, too; moments like that are simply irresistible. At the very beginning of [Disc-2] Track 2, Ritchie plucks a single phrase of a blues riff for some reason before stopping abruptly—I wonder why? He also plays something right before the final track on [Disc-1] (Track 6), but I still can't recall what it was. I was a bit let down that the encore was identical to the second night's set up until [Disc-2] Track 9, but—well, that's Ritchie for you—he wrapped things up in style with a proper guitar smash!
