D'Angelo and Questlove's 2012 Bonnaroo Festival performance was incredible! This release features the complete show captured in a superb audience recording—so good, in fact, that it rivals the immersive quality of a soundboard mix. The lineup is simply amazing—truly spectacular! It features members of The Roots (including Questlove) alongside D'Angelo's bandmates Jesse Johnson and Pino Palladino, plus Eric Leeds! Just imagine the kind of sound they unleash. The setlist spans Jimi Hendrix, Ohio Players, Led Zeppelin, Sly & the Family Stone, Curtis Mayfield, The Beatles, and The Time. While the only Prince-related track is by The Time, their performance delivers a funk sound that feels even more "Prince-like" than Prince himself; the other covers are deep cuts—the kind of songs Prince himself might not have chosen to play. It is a superb live performance—deeply soulful, funky, and exuding that unmistakable Prince vibe.

Disc 2 serves as a bonus collection of D'Angelo covering Prince's songs.

It begins with rehearsal recordings from the 2013 Carnegie Hall show; while these are soundboard recordings, they occasionally feature commentary from Questlove. Included are an incredibly cool rendition of "It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night" and "1999," as well as a hip-hop-infused take on "Pop Life." At that specific Carnegie Hall event, D'Angelo performed "It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night."
