PAUL MCCARTNEY / SECRET GIG IN LONDON 1991 (2CDR)
PAUL MCCARTNEY / SECRET GIG IN LONDON 1991 (2CDR)
This release features a remastered version of the May 10th London show—part of a series of only six "secret gigs" held in Europe between May and July 1991.
These shows offered a stark contrast to the "Get Back Tour," which relied on setlists and arrangements designed for massive arenas; for Paul, this marked a return to intimate venues—something he hadn't experienced since the early days of Wings. Having achieved a full comeback, he was able to perform in a relaxed atmosphere, interacting directly with the audience without the immense pressure that had weighed on him since the Beatles' breakup.
The secret gigs blended elements of *MTV Unplugged* and the "Get Back Tour," featuring an acoustic set in the first half (resembling a condensed version of *MTV Unplugged*) and an electric set in the second.
The London performance included here is captured in an audience recording that ranks among the best-sounding tapes from this series of secret gigs.
Although the London show is considered a definitive recording among these secret gigs, it has been difficult to find in recent years—until now, as it arrives in a fresh new release.
