The "Necromancer" series—which reissues rare titles from "by collectors, for collectors" handmade labels (previously available only in very limited circulation) using official master recordings—now features "Headless Hawk," one of the premier collector labels for jazz-related material. These rare titles are being re-released at an accessible price point, complete with a new reissue emblem and redesigned back cover art.
This two-disc set (CD and DVD) features a live performance by the Mahavishnu Orchestra in Antibes. While both discs cover the same concert, they utilize different master sources—one prepared for FM radio broadcast and the other for television. The lineup includes Jean-Luc Ponty and Gayle Moran (also known as the wife of Chick Corea). Although original member Billy Cobham is not present, Narada Michael Walden delivers a truly spectacular drum solo that is a highlight of the performance.
