Their performance in Japan—part of the "THE FINAL FRONTIER" farewell tour—was a spectacular showcase of the true essence of stadium rock.
Rather than a standard festival set, they delivered a rich, 20-song lineup worthy of a full headline show, packed with highlights. The setlist included everything from "Of a Lifetime"—an early progressive rock track from their debut album—to "Suzanne" (rarely performed live since the *Raised on Radio* album), as well as deep cuts like "Chain Reaction" and "Dead or Alive" that die-hard fans crave.

Despite being the event's closing act, they delivered a full-scale, high-energy performance that transcended the typical festival format, culminating in encores like "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" and "Any Way You Want It." They rocked the dome well past the scheduled end time, bringing the festival to a legendary, high-octane conclusion. They were far more than just a festival headliner; it was a night packed with surprises and fan service—an unforgettable event that will be talked about for years to come.

The biggest surprise of the night, however, occurred during the performance of their masterpiece, "Faithfully."
Keyboardist Jonathan Cain introduced a special guest who had traveled from New Jersey to Japan: Hugo Valenti, a vocalist who had once auditioned for Journey and is now active in a tribute band. A figure known to true aficionados, Hugo bears an uncanny resemblance to Steve Perry in both looks and voice. It is easy to understand the anecdote that he was rejected during his original audition for sounding *too much* like Steve Perry; his appearance and vocal tone perfectly mirror the original, making him a delightful surprise guest for longtime fans. When he appeared on stage and began singing "Faithfully," the entire arena was swept up in a whirlwind of panic and delight—for a fleeting moment, everyone wondered if the real Steve Perry had made a surprise comeback. That moment may well have been the highlight of the entire day.

The included DVD is a must-see production that captures the full concert using a multi-camera setup across three different sources, centered on footage from the venue's massive screens. For the audio, the creators utilized the same high-quality multi-stereo IEM matrix mix found on the CD, demonstrating a meticulous attention to detail.
