This is a live soundboard recording of a John Abercrombie trio—a true three-way collaboration among equals. It serves as an excellent follow-up for those who have already heard the live album by this same trio released on the ECM label. The audio quality, sourced from an FM broadcast, is superb. While the original master included some French-language commentary from a radio DJ, this has been edited out so that you can enjoy the music uninterrupted. As for the other members: Peter Erskine is well-known for his tenure as the drummer for Weather Report, while Marc Johnson gained prominence playing with Bill Evans (the pianist) and later led his own group, Bass Desires, which also featured Peter Erskine. If you enjoyed the ECM release, you should definitely give this a listen—it was recorded just a few months prior to that album.
