--- This release features a live performance by Jimi Hendrix at the LA Forum in Inglewood, California, on April 25, 1970, during his US tour. Captured here is the first leg of the 1970 US tour, allowing listeners to directly experience Jimi Hendrix playing in a remarkably relaxed and uninhibited style. Following the breakup of Band of Gypsys, Hendrix reunited with his musical comrade Mitch Mitchell on drums. Musically, he returned to the aggressive style of the late 1960s while incorporating a bluesy sound, delivering a magnificent performance. The bonus tracks feature a soundboard (SBD) recording of the second show from the July 30, 1970, concert in Maui, Hawaii. Although the main recording is an audience (Aud) source, it utilized stereo microphones—a rarity for the time—resulting in good channel separation, clarity, and a stable sense of atmosphere. The bonus material involves a mix of audience and soundboard sources; while the first show had been released previously, a complete recording of the second show is a rare find.
