This is a recording of the electrifying performance from the final night of the UK & Ireland tour—which began on June 24—held at the Royal Albert Hall on July 4. It features a guest appearance by former Pink Floyd member David Gilmour. Jeff Beck, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee who remains highly active, delivers a passionate performance here. This final show of the UK tour (following the US tour) boasts an incredible lineup of guests, including David Gilmour and Imelda May. While fellow former Pink Floyd member Roger Waters toured with Eric Clapton in 1984, the mere thought of Jeff Beck and David Gilmour sharing the stage is enough to get any fan excited. Given the uncertainty surrounding David Gilmour's future activities, this is a truly rare live recording. Furthermore, Jeff Beck—perhaps in exceptionally high spirits—actually sings on "Hi Ho Silver Lining." It has been ages—likely since the BBA (Beck, Bogert & Appice) era—since Jeff Beck took on vocal duties. While it is hard to picture Jeff Beck as a vocalist these days, this performance offers a glimpse into just how great a form he was in during 2009. In terms of content, the show is virtually identical to the Japan performances; however, the band sounds more relaxed than on the Japan tour. With a special guest in attendance, the atmosphere is laid-back, allowing you to enjoy a truly superb performance—Jeff Beck at his absolute best this year. As for the sound quality, although it is an audience recording, there is no muddiness, and the mix is well-balanced. I am really looking forward to the joint concerts with EC in 2010.
