This recording captures the opening night of the Tokyo leg of his 2009 tour—his 18th visit to Japan—held at the Nippon Budokan on February 15th. Clapton was incredibly busy in 2009; following this tour, he performed joint concerts with Jeff Beck and subsequently embarked on a tour with Steve Winwood—a collaboration that has since become a staple of his live performances. Having performed in Japan eighteen times, it is no exaggeration to call this a "second home" for him; one can sense that both Eric and the audience are thoroughly relaxed and enjoying the concert. While it is a shame that he hasn't released a new album since *Back Home* in 2005, the concert makes up for it with a parade of hit songs that get the crowd fired up. The setlist—interweaving hits from his days with Derek and the Dominos and Cream with his solo material—offers a lineup that fans will absolutely love. Regarding sound quality: although this is an audience recording, it captures the atmosphere and the clarity of the performance with superb balance.
