Live recordings from the Brad Mehldau Quartet. This four-disc set features remastered soundboard recordings from performances held at a New York jazz club in 2026. To accommodate the total runtime, spoken interludes between tracks have been edited out. The collection includes every song from two sets performed on each of the two nights; the setlists vary significantly, ensuring that the release offers more than just sheer volume. While it is somewhat unusual for a Mehldau-led quartet to feature an electric guitar, the instrument is played with a clean jazz tone, making this a perfect choice for fans of authentic jazz. The setlist consists almost entirely of jazz covers, featuring works by the likes of Hank Mobley, Wayne Shorter, Thelonious Monk, Cole Porter, Clifford Brown, and John Coltrane. Joshua Redman even made a surprise guest appearance during the August 11th performance! The sound quality is superb—flawless, in fact. I would have loved to end the review on that note, but because the performance on the 10th was longer, the first track of the second set had to be included on Disc 1. That is my only complaint.
