This title pairs a soundboard recording and pro-shot footage of Sonny Rollins' 1985 live performances. The audio comes from a radio broadcast of his concert in Osaka during his tour of Japan. The video features a televised broadcast of his performance at the jazz festival held in Bern, Switzerland, a few months later. The Osaka performance features a sextet with vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson, while the Bern performance features a quintet that includes an electric guitar and sees Mark Soskin—who also played in the Osaka show—on electric piano; this allows listeners to enjoy performances with distinct lineups from the same period. The Osaka recording is a soundboard source that has been remastered, though some noise—likely originating from the original broadcast—remains in certain sections.
