This release captures the performance from December 9, 1976, at the Koseinenkin Kaikan in Osaka, Japan—the fifth show of Rainbow's first-ever Japanese tour. Ritchie Blackmore's popularity had remained undiminished since his Deep Purple days in 1973, and the performances by Rainbow—the band he formed after leaving Purple—were ferocious; this recording of the final Osaka show showcases some of his finest guitar work. While many Rainbow bootlegs circulate, this release utilizes a source originally recorded for broadcast and has undergone extensive restoration. It allows listeners to fully experience a historic concert that stands as the only complete recording—from opening to closing—of the 1976 Japan tour. Three tracks from the additional live performance held in Osaka on December 5th are included as bonus tracks, sourced from a soundboard recording.
