The "Necromancer" series—which reissues rare titles from niche, collector-focused, handmade labels using official master recordings—now features "Headless Hawk," a premier collector’s label specializing in jazz. These rare titles are being reintroduced at an accessible price point, complete with new reissue branding and updated back-cover artwork.
This release captures a live soundboard performance by James Blood Ulmer—an artist who initially garnered little attention but has been steadfastly championed by this label for over a decade. As it is a soundboard recording, the audio quality is excellent, making it a great entry point for new listeners. Ulmer is joined by the visionary Bill Laswell on bass—a musician renowned for his collaborations with a wide array of unique and eclectic artists—and drummer Ronald Shannon Jackson, a close associate of Ulmer.
