The "Black Lodge" series—a new DVD imprint under the "Necromancer" label—has arrived. The Necromancer series specializes in reissuing rare titles, originally produced by collectors for collectors, using the official master recordings. These hard-to-find releases are now available once again, offered at an accessible price point.

This release features professional-shot live footage of Herbie Hancock. While Hancock is known for his versatile work across both electric and acoustic settings, this collection focuses on his acoustic side—a classic jazz format featuring piano and acoustic bass. He is joined by his longtime associate Buster Williams on bass, and Al Foster—who anchored the rhythm section during Miles Davis’s electric era—on drums. Hearing Al Foster strike the crash cymbal is sure to evoke memories of the electric Miles Davis period. The final two tracks feature the trio expanded into a quartet with the addition of Michael Brecker.
