This release captures a live performance by Eric Clapton—who frequently performed with an orchestra during the early 1990s—at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England, on March 4, 1991. While official releases covering the 1990 and 1991 residencies at the venue already exist, this recording showcases a unique setlist and allows the listener to fully appreciate the magnificent musical arrangements. The guitar work in the latter half, backed by the orchestra, is superb and steeped in deep, soulful melancholy; fans in attendance were surely moved by this different side of Eric. It is a highly recommended addition to any collection of his orchestral collaborations. Regarding sound quality: although it is an audience recording and retains some of the reverberation characteristic of the Royal Albert Hall, there is no muddiness. Instead, it offers a vivid sense of presence that makes you feel as though you are right there in the venue, and the listening experience is never marred by intrusive crowd noise.
