This release captures the opening night of Eric Clapton's third tour of Japan—the "Slowhand Japan Tour 1977"—recorded at the Budokan Hall in Tokyo on October 7th. By this third visit, Eric seemed to have grown more comfortable with Japan; during the opening tuning sequence, he even offers a casual "Dōmo" (Thanks/Hello) in Japanese. Overall, the concert has a very relaxed atmosphere. While there is a hint of slight stiffness typical of an opening-night performance, the show allows for a thoroughly satisfying listening experience. The audio is an audience recording that captures a vivid sense of presence, making it feel as though you are right there in the venue. The overall balance is excellent, and the sound quality is very high.
