This recording captures the second day of the "Wayne Shorter Legacy Celebration" held in 2019. Please note that although the event bears Wayne Shorter’s name, he himself is not present. The core of the ensemble consists of Danilo Perez, John Patitucci, and Brian Blade—musicians who were active alongside Shorter—joined by Terrace Martin, known for his production work with new-generation jazz artists such as Robert Glasper and Kendrick Lamar. Leading the performance on this second day is Branford Marsalis, a true jazz pedigree. The setlist is comprised entirely of compositions by Wayne Shorter. For the encore, the group performs "Masqualero," a classic from Shorter’s time with the Miles Davis band. While this is an audience recording, it is of high quality and exceptionally well-captured.
