This release features the audio from the opening night in Los Angeles of the 1980 "Drama Tour," marking the final chapter of Yes's classic progressive rock era.
While the absence of Ian Anderson and Rick Wakeman is undeniably felt, this remains a significant period in the band's history. The void left by the departing members was filled by Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes of The Buggles; for fans of The Buggles, this may well be the most compelling tour of all. As the original recording suffered from heavy hiss, noise reduction has been applied—hence its inclusion in the "Brushed" series. Additionally, the ending of "Starship Trooper" was cut off in the source, so the track has been seamlessly patched. ***** Mike Millard Tape Series *****
In recent years, there has been significant progress in digitizing "Mike Millard tapes"—recordings made by the late Mike Millard, a taper renowned among fans for his exceptional audience recording skills. This label has released multiple titles based on these newly digitized tapes, categorized into two series: "Brushed Mike Millard Tapes" and "Legendary Mike Millard Tapes." Not all Mike Millard tapes offer perfect sound quality; some require considerable work to improve the audio, and these heavily enhanced versions make up the "Brushed" series. Conversely, the "Legendary" series consists of recordings that were already near-perfect—leaving little room for sonic improvement—and thus underwent only minimal editing, such as adjustments between tracks.
