Part-Time Lover

Following the 1985 release of the album *In Square Circle*—and with "Part-Time Lover" hitting number one in the U.S. on November 2nd of that year—Stevie Wonder arrived in Japan for a series of concerts. This Blu-ray release features a professional-shot recording of the November 3rd performance, sourced directly from the original videotapes. It is a truly comprehensive collection, including not only live performances and interviews, but also television commercials featuring Stevie! The show opens with a groovy rendition of the unreleased track "It's Growing," which begins with Stevie singing into a microphone from inside a car as he makes his way toward the stage. The setlist includes iconic classics like "Sir Duke," "I Wish," "My Cherie Amour," "You Are the Sunshine of My Life," and "Superstition," alongside tracks from that era such as "Ribbon in the Sky" and "Overjoyed." Stevie also performs "Ebony and Ivory" (a duet originally recorded with Paul McCartney) and "We Are the World" (co-written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie). Additionally, he includes "It's Wrong"—a song chosen specifically for this Japanese audience to address the issue of apartheid. Capturing Stevie during what could be considered his prime, and featuring several rare live performances, this is a fascinating and definitive release.
