This release captures a live performance from April 11, 1993—towards the end of the Act I tour—at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, featuring high-quality, immersive audience audio. Compared to the Act II shows, this setlist features a greater number of songs from the *Love Symbol* album in the first half, and concludes with a performance of "Push." It also includes tracks from the NPG's debut album, such as "Johnny" and "Gold Nigga." Prince's unconventional vocal delivery on "The Morning Papers" is particularly interesting. The rendition of Carmen Electra's "Everybody Get On Up"—transformed into a Prince-style funk jam—is also fantastic. While it is unfortunate that there is a cut in the live arrangement of "Sweet Baby," "Love 2 The 9's" is performed during this segment as well. A funky jam is incorporated into the finale of the performance of "7." "She's Always In My Hair," which made a surprise appearance starting with the 1993 live shows, is a lengthy performance clocking in at over six minutes. The superb sequence of "Insatiable" and "Scandalous" is also outstanding, featuring arrangements unique to Act 1. "1999" also boasts a rich, full sound thanks to the inclusion of a horn section. And, of course, the closing track "Push" is truly brilliant; it incorporates the keyboard riff from "Atomic Dog."
