This release captures the first night of KISS’s 1997 Japan tour, held on January 18th at the Tokyo Dome. It marked the original lineup’s first return to Japan in 19 years. The high level of motivation among the band members is palpable throughout this opening-night performance; despite being a reunion, the show is packed with intense, powerful playing—with lead guitarist Ace Frehley’s fluid fretwork being particularly impressive. From start to finish, it is a fantastic rock show. As for the sound quality, although it is an audience recording, the source is of such high caliber that it could easily be mistaken for a soundboard (line) recording.
