The "Necromancer" series—which reissues rare titles from handmade, collector-focused labels (originally circulated only within very limited circles) using official master recordings—now features "Headless Hawk," one of the premier collector labels in the jazz genre. These rare titles are being re-released at an accessible price point, complete with a new reissue emblem and a redesigned back cover.

This is a rare live recording of John McLaughlin performing solo on guitar. As the tracklist suggests, the set includes jazz standards by artists such as Chick Corea and Charles Mingus; however, given that it is an acoustic guitar solo performance, the sound is not strictly "jazzy." Instead, it leans more toward a classical flamenco style, reminiscent of Paco de Lucía. While the total runtime is brief, the recording is a soundboard source, allowing for a detailed appreciation of McLaughlin’s guitar technique.
