This is a complete collector's CD set of the Jimi Hendrix New Year's concerts held at the Fillmore East in New York City (spanning December 31, 1969, to January 1, 1970). It features the Early and Late shows from December 31, 1969, compiled using soundboard sources, with audience sources used to fill in any missing sections. The initial release featuring an all-Black lineup suffered from a disjointed tracklist due to contractual issues; while a subsequent release offered a digest of the 1969 and 1970 shows, it failed to present the "Early" and "Late" sets individually, resulting in a somewhat uneven listening experience despite the superb performances. In contrast, this release presents the complete live sets for each day. Official releases have historically included only seven songs from the 1969 shows—with a mere three tracks available from the "Early Show"—making this a truly invaluable record. Each day's performance is captured in its entirety; where soundboard (SBD) sources were incomplete, astonishingly high-quality audience recordings were seamlessly integrated to fill the gaps, including the moments between songs, creating a highly realistic listening experience. Although the audio quality is a blend of SBD and audience sources, the sections utilizing the audience recordings are of such high fidelity that they could easily be mistaken for soundboard audio.
