This release captures the GILLAN concert held on October 20, 1978, at the Koseinenkin Kaikan in Osaka, Japan. This tour took place shortly after the band changed its name from the "Ian Gillan Band" to simply "Gillan" in an effort to refresh their image with a heavier sound; it marked their return to Japan following their 1977 tour. Listeners can enjoy the unique "Gillan" sound, which stands distinct from Deep Purple. The performance exudes a relaxed atmosphere; the band members are tight and stable, and Ian himself sounds like he is truly enjoying the show. Bonus tracks include seven songs from a 1979 concert in Vienna featuring Bernie Tormé. The audio is an audience recording; while it reflects the era of its origin, the sound quality is consistently high and enjoyable.
