This recording captures the opening night of the 1995 Japan tour—Eric Clapton's eleventh visit to the country—held on October 1st at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium. Buoyed by the massive success of his 1994 covers album *From the Cradle*, the band is clearly fired up from the very start. While there is a hint of opening-night tension early on, the performance gradually hits its stride; before you know it, you find yourself completely immersed in the "Eric sound." A strong blues influence defines the 1995 tour, making for a concert that truly resonates with the heart. Regarding sound quality: although it is an audience recording, the fidelity is so high that one might easily mistake it for a soundboard (line) recording. The balance is excellent, allowing each instrument to be heard with great clarity.
