Ray Gillen, the worst vocalist in Black Sabbath history, joined the band as a temporary support member to continue the tour after former Deep Purple member Glenn Hughes was fired after only a few tours. Ray Gillen received the highest praise for both his talent and popularity, even though his time with the band was short. He officially performed as a member, but ultimately his last live performance was on June 4, 1986, the final day of the Seventh Star Tour. He left Black Sabbath in 1987 and sadly passed away in 1993. There were no studio albums featuring Ray Gillen, and only a few demo records remain, so the only place you can hear him is during the three-month Seventh Star Tour. This item contains a recording of the June 4, 1986 final day of the tour in Nottingham, UK. Since this was about three months after he started filling in for Glenn Hughes on March 29, you can hear Ray Gillen as a Black Sabbath singer without any awkwardness, rather than just a substitute. The live performance is superb, featuring a high-energy Ray Gillen and Tony Iommi's usual sharp and heavy guitar playing, allowing you to fully enjoy Sabbath with Ray Gillen's last live show. Tony Iommi himself seems satisfied with the performance, as there are scenes of him greeting the audience after the show. The sound quality is that of an audience recording, but the balance is good, and each rhythm section is clearly recorded. Although there are some instability issues, you can enjoy a historical live performance with great realism. As a bonus disc, there is a soundboard recording (radio broadcast) from the 1986 Seventh Star Tour, June 2nd, at the Hammersmith Odeon in London. It is slightly muffled, but soundboard recordings from Ray Gillen's time with the band are extremely rare and almost never seen on the market. The live performance itself is well-coordinated, as it is from the latter half of the tour, and you can enjoy Ray Gillen's high-energy performance.
