This release captures the Black Sabbath live performance at Makuhari Messe (Chiba, Japan) on May 12, 2013, as part of Ozzfest Japan 2013—an event organized by Ozzy Osbourne during their major world tour that began in April. The band members seem overjoyed to be performing together with this lineup and to be playing in Japan; their high energy makes for a truly magnificent concert. Ozzy Osbourne’s vocals are strong, and Tony Iommi is in peak form, delivering guitar work so superb it compels you to shout, "This is Black Sabbath!" With the crowd’s enthusiastic response, the band and audience become one, creating an outstanding live experience. As a bonus, nine tracks have been included from the May 4th concert in Perth, Australia—a show that took place just prior to the Japan tour. This collection allows you to hear "Dirty Women," a song that was not performed during the Japan tour itself. Although the recording is an audience source, the quality is astonishingly good; with excellent tonal balance, a vivid sense of presence, and great clarity, the recording is so stable and impressive that one might easily mistake it for a soundboard (line) recording.
