This recording captures the concert held at the Osaka Koseinenkin Hall on May 18, 1973, during the band's first Japan tour following the release of their album. While an official Japan-exclusive release of the 1973 Osaka shows exists, that official version is a compilation of the two performances held on May 18 and 19; in contrast, this release presents the complete show from May 18. Because the official release was edited without regard for the actual setlist, it fails to fully convey the excitement and atmosphere of the concert. As this tour followed the album's release, the band performed eight tracks from it: "Black Cat Moan," "Lady," "Superstition," "Sweet Sweet Surrender," "Why Should I Care," "Lose Myself With You," "Livin' Alone," and "I'm So Proud." Being their first tour of Japan, the band members were highly motivated and full of energy. Jeff Beck's guitar work is razor-sharp, and the solos by Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice are powerful, making for a magnificent performance. Regarding sound quality, this is an audience recording that captures the rhythm section clearly, offering a stable listening experience throughout. There is some slight hiss, but it is not particularly distracting. This release documents a rare and wonderful concert—the first and last of its kind in Japan—by the Beck, Bogert & Appice lineup.
