This release marks the debut of the complete audio recording from the first night (August 26, 1986) of the New Haven concerts. These shows took place over two consecutive nights—August 26 and 27—in 1986, a tour supporting *5150*, the band's first-ever US No. 1 album featuring new vocalist Sammy Hagar. While it has long been said that the August 27th performance was the one selected for release (due to recording issues on the 26th), a side-by-side comparison confirms that parts of the August 26th show were indeed utilized. The audio and video from these New Haven dates were previously featured in the "Expanded Edition" released earlier this year to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the *5150* album, and were also released as the live album *Live in New Haven 1986*. Sourced from a previously unreleased, high-quality audience cassette master, this release offers far more than just tracks missing from the official album; it boasts a total runtime of over two hours. It even includes the full-length version of "Best of Both Worlds" from the following day (the 27th)—a track that had been edited down on the official release. While the official album was poorly received for lacking fresh material, this release presents the complete performance from the band's peak era—exactly the kind of release the official version *should* have been—making it a must-have item that will satisfy even the most dedicated fans.
