Guitar legend Uli Jon Roth returns to Japan for the first time in seven years, bringing with him his new album, *Under A Dark Sky*! This release features a complete recording of the Tokyo shows from his 2008 Japan tour—held on November 11 and 12—captured in superb, ultra-high audio quality that perfectly conveys the power and atmosphere of the live experience.
The low end is tight and punchy, the vocals are crystal clear, and as for the maestro's guitar work—it is absolutely electrifying and top-notch! The sound balance is excellent, leaving nothing to be desired. The touring lineup includes longtime friend Liz Vandall and vocalist Mark Boals (formerly of Yngwie Malmsteen's band, currently in Royal Hunt, and known for his work with Lana Lane), who contributes vocals just as he did on the new album. They are backed by a team of consummate musicians: Michael Ehré (drums, known for his work with Metalium), Niklas Turmann (guitar), Lars Lehmann (bass), and Corvin Bahn (keyboards).
True to the announcement that the setlists would differ over the two days, the band treated the audience to a rotating selection of tracks—including Scorpions classics and Jimi Hendrix covers—packed with highlights! Furthermore, Marty Friedman made a special guest appearance, performing two songs alongside the band. These two days in Tokyo truly delivered a special live experience!
