A complete, high-quality recording of the fourth night of the 2002 Japan tour—the Tokyo performance on September 29th!
Liam is in great form, chatting away in high spirits! The performance itself is excellent, too. Highly recommended for fans of audience-recorded bootlegs.
[Review from a specialized music magazine]
Widely considered the best show of the Japan tour, this fourth night features an audience whose enthusiasm is palpable right from the start.
At the same time, the crowd shows great etiquette—listening quietly during the songs and erupting with energy during the interludes and between tracks—making for a very pleasant and immersive listening experience for anyone checking out this bootleg.
As for the performance itself, this version of "The Hindu Times" stands out from other shows on the tour; the band builds the tension before the electric guitar kicks in, and there are clever little arrangements and flourishes throughout the set. During "Hung In A Bad Place," the sight of the brothers both shouting "You got me!" with all their might—eliciting a roar of excitement from the crowd—is enough to give you goosebumps.
In "Columbia," the band’s energy truly explodes—with Liam, for instance, belting out the "Come on!" refrain even more frequently than usual—and the way the audience rises to the occasion, heating up in response, is nothing short of exhilarating.
It is truly remarkable to see the powerful, sports-match-like atmosphere—where the audience is fully and intensely invested in the performance—recreated here in Japan, much like what was so striking at Finsbury.
"Morning Glory" is a highlight; the crowd claps along to the drums during the interlude, while Noel’s electric guitar and Liam’s vocals—delivered with an intensity bordering on a scream—resonate throughout the venue.
Then there is "Born On A Different Cloud." Liam’s vocals are both mellow and powerful, and the instrumentation is superb; you can tell that even the high-energy audience is captivated, listening with rapt attention.
As for the condition of the recording, while the sound balance becomes slightly unstable during "Live Forever" and the outro of "Champagne Supernova," there are no issues significant enough to warrant concern. This release, which captures the incredible live dynamic between the band and the audience, comes highly recommended.
It is an essential item that every Oasis fan should own.
