This release features recordings from Led Zeppelin's 1973 North American tour—specifically the three-night stand at Madison Square Garden (MSG) in New York on July 27, 28, and 29. While these recordings are well-known among fans, this 2022 version fully reconstructs the setlist for the opening night (July 27) by patching the missing first-half segments with a soundboard (SBD) source from the Buffalo, NY show held that same year; minor repairs were also made to the recordings from the 28th and 29th. The complete setlists for all three MSG shows are faithfully reproduced, and the release includes a bonus track featuring the May 1973 Salt Lake City performance, sourced from a soundboard recording. Revisiting these three shows, one can clearly sense the band at the peak of its maturity; the performances are of such high caliber that it is no surprise they were chosen for the band's first official live album release. You can fully enjoy this spectacular three-day run—featuring elements unique to this era, such as the sheer power of the late Bonzo’s drumming and Jimmy’s ferocious guitar work. Regarding sound quality, the release primarily utilizes soundboard (SBD) sources, with audience (Aud) recordings filling in only the few missing segments, allowing you to experience the dynamic New York performances in high fidelity throughout.
