This release captures a live performance from the Japanese leg of Jeff Beck's 2005 world tour, recorded on July 13, 2005, at the Sapporo Kousei Nenkin Kaikan in Hokkaido. Although he had not released a new studio album since *Jeff* in 2003, Beck was actively touring during this period, and the high energy of the concert featured here is truly astonishing. The setlist is a thoroughly enjoyable mix of old and new hits, but above all, Jeff Beck's crisp, articulate playing is magnificent—almost as if he were possessed by a higher musical spirit. The audience is fired up right from the opening, and their high-energy enthusiasm is palpable throughout the recording. It is a performance that showcases Beck's eagerness to please the crowd, including a rendition of Jimi Hendrix's "Hey Joe." The show also features a guest appearance by the popular female guitarist Jennifer Batten, making for a truly special and lavish concert experience. Although this is an audience recording, the sound quality is so excellent—offering such clarity and a sense of presence—that if you focus solely on the performance, you might easily mistake it for a soundboard recording.
