This release features a soundboard recording of the Deep Purple performance at Sittertobel in St. Gallen, Switzerland, on June 26, 1994, during their European tour. Following Ritchie’s sudden departure in November 1993, the band recruited the highly talented young guitarist Joe Satriani for their December Japan tour. The tour was a resounding success—so much so that, impressed by his exceptional guitar work, the band even invited Joe to join them as a permanent member. This release captures a performance in Switzerland featuring Satriani, who by then had already seamlessly integrated into the group. While his setup differed from Ritchie’s, Joe’s powerful, distinct personality shines through in his brilliant guitar playing, contributing to a high level of musical cohesion within the band. It is a fantastic live set that is both highly engaging and rare, as it documents a performance from the period when Joe was part of the lineup—an essential item for any fan. As a bonus, the release includes five soundboard (SBD) tracks from what is believed to be a 1993 European tour, featuring Ritchie. The sound quality throughout is consistently high, as the recording is sourced from a soundboard feed.
