This release captures a total of three shows performed over two days at the Whisky A Go-Go in L.A. While the quality of their performances often hinged heavily on Tom Verlaine's condition, he is in top form—both vocally and on guitar—across all the live sets included here; fans will likely recognize this the moment he begins to sing. The guitar solo on Track 3, "Elevation," is undoubtedly one of the finest performances of their entire career. Sourced from a stereo audience recording master, the audio inevitably suffers from slight muddiness or wavering in places, but appropriate remastering ensures the sound quality is excellent overall. Another highlight is the performance of songs like "Foxhole" and "Careful" (which would later appear on their second album) and the title track "Adventure" (which ultimately went unreleased on studio albums); these tracks are played with the same precarious, taut tension—like a stretched piano wire—that defined "Marquee Moon," making for a truly compelling listen.
