RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS /
IN JAPAN 1990 CLUB CITTA KAWASAKI
(1 DVDR) DHYANA002
Live at Club Citta Kawasaki, Kanagawa, Japan – January 26, 1990

Features pro-shot footage of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' historic first-ever concert in Japan, held at Club Citta Kawasaki on January 26, 1990.
Bonus footage includes a collaboration with David Sanborn from the 1989 broadcast of *NBC Night Music*.
The video has been upscaled from the original 4:3 aspect ratio to 16:9. Amidst a dire situation—following the death of close friend and guitarist Hillel Slovak from an overdose and the departure of drummer Jack Irons (now with Pearl Jam)—the band recruited John Frusciante on guitar and Chad Smith on drums, forming the ultimate lineup that endures to this day. Their debut Japan tour, supporting the highly anticipated album *Mother’s Milk*, featured a legendary performance brimming with the groove and youthful energy of these four musicians!
Notably, this tour showcased a uniquely funky setlist—featuring a two-piece horn section (a rarity in their modern stage setup) and a cover of a Funkadelic song.
This rare footage of their first-ever Japan tour is a must-see, capturing the Red Hot Chili Peppers before they evolved into the world's greatest live band!
