This is a live recording of the Pat Metheny Group at the 1987 Meadow Brook Music Festival. Although it bears the name "Music Festival," the venue—now known as the Meadow Brook Amphitheatre, located on the campus of Oakland University—is a permanent music venue rather than a festival in the traditional sense. The 143-minute setlist reflects this substantial performance. While the original source material suffered from thin, tinny sound quality, the recording held great potential; thanks to a thorough remastering, it now boasts excellent sound that fully reveals its true quality. "CHRIS" is an instrumental version of "This Is Not America," a major hit at the time featuring vocals by David Bowie.
