The "Necromancer" series—which reissues rare titles from small, collector-focused, handmade labels using official master recordings—now features "Headless Hawk," one of the premier labels for jazz collectors. These rare titles are being re-released at an accessible price point, complete with a new reissue emblem and updated back-cover artwork.
This release features a live performance by the "Five Peace Band," a group formed by Chick Corea and John McLaughlin—the two key figures who spearheaded the jazz-fusion movement in the 1970s with Return to Forever and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, respectively. The recording is a high-quality audience capture. It includes the late set from November 5th and the early set from November 6th; for a better listening flow, the tracks from the 6th are presented first. With the addition of Kenny Garrett, John Patitucci, Brian Blade, and Gayle Moran, the lineup leans slightly toward Chick Corea’s musical aesthetic.
