This release compiles the best takes from Jimi Hendrix's 1970 tours of the US and Europe. Tragically, this would be the final tour for guitarist Jimi Hendrix, who passed away in September 1970 due to a drug-related incident. Featuring a lineup with bassist Billy Cox and longtime drummer Mitch Mitchell, the set showcases magnificent performances drawn from the US tours (May, July, and September) and the rare European tour (specifically the September show in Denmark). Jimi Hendrix did not die as a result of a decline in musical intensity caused by drug abuse; in fact, his live performances from the 1970s are highly acclaimed. After the breakup of Band of Gypsys, he reunited with drummer Mitch Mitchell—a true musical comrade—to deliver concerts characterized by a relaxed atmosphere and a strong bluesy feel. With the exception of the May Minnesota show, the recordings are soundboard (SBD) sources, allowing you to enjoy consistently high audio quality.
