This second volume of a highly recommended rare collection traces Janis's career from her early to mid-period, featuring recordings that range from the 1964 "Typewriter Tapes" (an early live session with Jorma Kaukonen) to collaborations with a jazz band in 1965, and sessions leading up to her debut album with Big Brother & the Holding Company and the 1968 release *Cheap Thrills*.
