A live duo recording featuring Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter—close allies in both their professional and personal lives. Seeing their names often brings to mind classics like "Cantaloupe Island," "Footprints," or "On Green Dolphin Street," but tonight offers something different: improvisation with a unique flavor. That said, it does not veer into avant-garde free jazz, making the performance relatively accessible to the listener. While the original recording included a DJ's introductory speech and an interview with Hancock, these have been omitted. By also cutting out the cheers between tracks and Hancock's spoken commentary, the material fits onto a single disc, resulting in a cohesive edit that feels like a unified album.
