This recording captures Eric Clapton's concert in China on January 20, 2007, at the Shanghai Grand Stage. Perhaps due to the local environment or a request from Chinese authorities, the performance comes across as very tense. There is almost no stage banter between songs—just a brief "Thank you"—and while the performance itself is tight and cohesive, Eric seems somewhat stiff. Rumor has it that the authorities had banned the performance of his hit song "Cocaine" at the time; it seems even "Slowhand" couldn't go against local regulations. The sound quality is excellent—well-balanced, clear, and offering a natural sense of atmosphere without extreme tonal adjustments, making for a very natural listening experience.
