This release features a complete, superb-quality audience recording of the June 17, 2026, concert in Santa Barbara, California—a show that took place after lead guitarist Doug Lancio had departed and Julian Lage, one of the finest jazz guitarists of the modern era, had joined the band.
Due to his own tour commitments, the June 26th show marked the end of Julian Lage's stint; subsequently, for the June 29th show in Austin, Texas, Bob Britt was also absent, and Joel Patterson has since joined to continue the tour.
There has been no official announcement from the Dylan camp explaining why such a dramatic lineup change occurred in the midst of the tour, so the exact details remain unknown.
Despite this turbulence, the performances by Dylan and Julian Lage were truly magnificent. They played a 16-song set that differed from the previous year's lineup, featuring tracks such as "Man In The Long Black Coat," a cover of Eddie Cochran's "Nervous Breakdown," and the closing number, "I Shall Be Released." You can fully enjoy—in superb sound quality—this incredibly rare live performance featuring Julian Lage, showcasing the inspiring Bob Dylan as he continues to perform even after turning 85.
