The "Necromancer" series—which reissues rare titles from niche, collector-run, handmade labels using official master recordings—now features "Headless Hawk," one of the premier collector labels in the jazz world. These rare titles are being reintroduced with new back-cover artwork and a special reissue emblem, all at an accessible price point.
This is a soundboard live recording featuring Arild Andersen, a bassist synonymous with the ECM label. While it retains the signature ECM aesthetic—anchored by the acoustic bass—the music avoids veering too far into the avant-garde, offering instead a dreamlike jazz soundscape from a stellar quintet. While some ECM releases can be challenging due to their highly experimental nature, this album is perfectly suited for fans of more orthodox jazz. The ensemble is composed entirely of European musicians.
