The "Necromancer" series—which reissues rare titles from niche, handmade, collector-focused labels using official master recordings—now features "Headless Hawk," one of the premier collector labels in the jazz world. These rare titles are being reintroduced at an accessible price point, complete with new reissue branding and updated back-cover artwork.
The sound is quintessentially ECM. This release captures two jam sessions recorded in Woodstock, featuring some of the most iconic musicians associated with the ECM label. The combination of Collin Walcott’s tablas and sitar with Nana Vasconcelos’s percussion creates a distinct, exotic, Asian-influenced atmosphere—a vibe perfectly reflected in the album’s cover art. Sourced from a soundboard recording.
