The "Necromancer" series—which reissues rare titles from exclusive, collector-run, handmade labels using authentic master recordings—now welcomes "Headless Hawk," one of the premier collector labels in the jazz world. These rare titles are being re-released at an accessible price point, featuring new reissue branding and updated back-cover artwork.

This is a live recording of the Pat Metheny Trio, featuring the legendary Jaco Pastorius on bass.
In the late 1970s, Metheny and Jaco frequently crossed paths—notably while backing artists like Joni Mitchell and Herbie Hancock—and held a deep mutual respect for each other’s talents. A trio setting proved the perfect environment for such musical heavyweights to lock horns and showcase their prowess. Joined by drummer Bob Moses, the trio delivers a performance defined by highly technical ensemble playing. Please note, however, that while this is a soundboard recording, it is—as indicated by the "VG" (Very Good) rating—not perfect; there is significant hiss, so it may not be the best choice for casual listeners. Nevertheless, every instrument remains distinct and audible, making this an essential listen for fans. In particular, the bass lines—which often get buried in audience-recorded bootlegs—are clearly audible here, which is a major plus.
