This release pairs two tribute concerts recorded in a Paris studio in April 2026—a year marking the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis's birth, which has seen numerous tributes take place, most notably by the special group "WE WANT MILES!" This release pairs two tributes—Yazz Ahmed’s take on Miles Davis’s pivotal electric-era album *Bitches Brew* and Avishai Cohen’s tribute to *Jack Johnson* (an album that enjoys enduring popularity even among rock fans)—presented as a set containing a soundboard-quality CD and a pro-shot Blu-ray. While neither musician may be a household name in Japan, both are brilliant, cutting-edge contemporary jazz artists. Yazz Ahmed captivates with an exotic, groovy sound infused with strong world-music elements. Avishai Cohen—who has released material on the ECM label—is a musician capable of crafting immersive soundscapes that incorporate ambient textures. Both performances feature a unique "studio-live" setup where the audience surrounds the band, creating a compelling visual experience. Notably, the *Jack Johnson* performance—inspired by the soundtrack to the documentary about the boxer of the same name—takes place inside a boxing ring, with Cohen entering the stage by ducking through the ropes. The musicianship is, of course, superb; this is a highly recommended release that will hopefully win both Yazz Ahmed and Avishai Cohen a legion of new fans.
