This release features a complete recording of the opening night of Megadeth's 13th tour of Japan—led by Dave Mustaine (aka "The Colonel")—at LOUD PARK '09 at Makuhari Messe, following the release of their latest album *ENDGAME* (their first in about two years). The setlist, which included two fast-paced tracks from the new album alongside a selection of songs spanning their entire history, was highly acclaimed; the Tokyo performance was particularly brilliant for the inclusion of the classic "Mechanix" within the "Holy Wars" sequence. However, much like their previous tour, the P.A. sound quality was atrocious; Dave's vocals and guitar were highly unstable—especially during the first five songs—and the poor mixing, combined with venue echo, resulted in a truly disappointing P.A. sound. To remedy this, we have created a full matrix mix combining the uncompressed In-Ear Monitor (IEM) source used by Dave Mustaine on stage with an audience source that has been mastered for optimal listening. Mixed with a focus on Dave, the sound is bold, dynamic, and punchy—delivering the excellent quality characteristic of a matrix recording. With Dave’s guitar work brought to the forefront alongside the vocals, this is a release that is sure to satisfy even the most dedicated fans.
