This recording captures the second-generation Jeff Beck Group—featuring super drummer Cozy Powell—during their first U.S. tour in New York on November 6, 1971, immediately following the release of their new album *Rough And Ready*. This was the debut tour of the second-generation Jeff Beck Group, which was even more highly acclaimed than the first-generation group featuring Rod Ronnie. True to the members’ exceptional talent, the performance feels less like “Jeff Beck with a backing band” and more like each member making their own powerful statement. The high-energy performance hits hard right from the start, getting the audience incredibly excited, and Jeff Beck’s solo is absolutely awesome. They performed “Jody,” “New Ways Train Train,” and “Situation” from the new album *Rough And Ready*, while the rest of the set consisted of songs from the first-generation Jeff Beck Group era; Bob Tench delivered a superb vocal performance, making this an outstanding debut tour. The sound quality is well-balanced for a 38-year-old recording—though there is a slight sense of instability—and you can fully enjoy Jeff Beck’s sharp guitar work and Cozy Powell’s powerful drumming.
